Scott Kirk Explores The Fascinating Realm Of The Tri-State Area
Back around 1981 or so, my parents took the family to a tiny lakside village in Eagles Mere, PA. I remember being awestruck by The Crestmont Inn . . an abandoned hotel that sat high up on a hill overlooking the lake. I walked the grounds with my Dad (after learning it was expected to be torn down) peeking in the windows and wondering what we had missed. It was the first time I fell in love with architecture and it sparked my interest in historic buildings. Sadly, the next year we went up and it was gone, but I attribute it to opening the door to my career in real estate. This site includes my adventures through New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania . . an area I call my exploration territory, a realm or better yet, a kingdom (since it includes numerous castles)
Feel free to learn about some of the places I have visited and I encourage you the visit those that are open to the public. Some are privately owned, while others could be owned by historical societies, preservation organizations, local or state government agencies, etc.
I do not encourage visiting those that are abandoned, condemned or off limits to the public as they can be dangerous and / or illegal trespassing.
After two decades of residential real estate sales including a number of historic homes, I have decided to embark on a tour of the tri-state area to uncover and visit many of the remaining homes and estates from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
Each property has it's own story. Some are still in the hands of their original owners, passed down thru generations, while others have been donated, left abandoned or rescued and in various states of preservation. Each one seems to be more spectacular than the last.
Scott Kirk is also an award winning real estate agent with more than 20+ years experience serving all of central New Jersey. He is vastly familiar with a wide variety of residential sales situations and would be more than happy to discuss assisting you with any of your real estate needs. To learn more about him, you
